Flowriding

If you know me well, you know that I have not been a fan of activities where I'm wearing nothing more than a swimsuit. Neither do I enjoy looking foolish in public. Well this last week I did both. I went with two of my buddies to the Provo Beach Resort where we tried their Flowrider for the first time. I tried surfing maybe three or four times with little to no success. On one of the last unsuccessful attempts I hurt my neck so I was starting to feel resigned to failure. I tried once on the boogie board which was kind of fun but not difficult at all. So it kind of felt like a waste of time. So shortly before our time was up I decided it was time to try it again. I was glad that I did it. This time I stayed up for about a minute. Granted I was holding on to the rope the whole time but I was upright for a minute! Not only that but then I posted a video of myself on Facebook. Way to lose the fear! I am awesome!

Weighing In

I am liking weighing in on Friday mornings. Thursdays are usually pretty active days for me. Well yesterday I played racquetball for an hour with my brother and nephew. We only got two games in but I won them both. Then later that night I did 45 minutes of yoga with my buddy, Stephen. This morning when I weighed in I was pleased to see my lowest weight yet: 191 lbs! I am awesome!

Good Percentage!

So tonight after I finished my spin class with Bert (this was my first Bert class), he offered to measure body fat for anyone. I stuck around and was the last of those who wanted to get measured. It was worth the wait. He informed me that my body fat was 17.5%. That may not be exciting for you but for me it was! I believe when I took fitness for life at BYU my fat percentage was 18% and I was a 21 year old. So I may not be lean for a 43 year old but I am ideal. I am awesome!

Gym Time Overload

Spinning with my friend, Curt, at lunch. Racquetball with my brother, Ben, after work. And yoga with my friend, Stephen, too. 3 hours of gym time!

The results this morning was my new low weight: 191.5 lbs! I am awesome!

Going to New Lengths

Yesterday I signed up to run a half marathon. It's going to take some serious preparations. I've never run this far at once. I'm nervous but I am awesome!

Reaching New Lows

This morning I was pleased to stand on the scales and see that I had reached a new low weight. I weighed in at 193 lbs. Not sure how many decades its been since I've been this low. I am awesome!

Sunday Morning Run

This morning I woke up and did my normal weigh in. I was surprised to see that my weight was my lowest that I had weighed in with. That, combined with my increased energy with getting over being sick, inspired me to go out for a run. It wasn't my fastest or even close. I felt it was a great accomplishment having not run in a few weeks and having been laid up with sickness. Click here to see my run. I am awesome!

Post Sick Spinning

It had been over a week since I had seen the gym spin class or felt the energy to do much of anything. This morning I was determined that I was going to spin class at any cost. The class was rough. I had to cough a fair amount and my nose was running like crazy. Breathing wasn't exactly very easy. But the main thing is that I made it! Sure I wasn't able to hit it as hard as I normally do but I survived the class. It felt really good. I am awesome!

Not Feeling Awesome

So I've spent the last  days being sick. Nothing about that is awesome. I guess what is awesome about the last  days is that I have been craving some gym time. I can't wait until I can get back to working out. I was hopeful that today I could make it to my spin class but I just didn't have the energy. Now I'm holding out for Thursday's spin class. Even if I don't feel awesome, I am awesome for missing the gym!

I Dominated

Yesterday, I went spinning during lunch. Then right after work I lifted upper body weights for about 45 minutes. Then my brother and nephew showed up to play racquetball. We played three games in about one hour and a half. I won all three games! I'm pretty sure this was a first. I am awesome!

Nu Shuz

Yesterday I spent some time with my buddy, Chris. He currently owned a pair of shoes like the ones shown above. Only his are on their last leg. When I was ordering myself some shoes online. I decided to get him and my other buddy a pair too. I'm just that nice. I am awesome!

Return to Owner

Last weekend I had a few friends from Idaho stay over at my place for a few nights. One of them forgot his cell phone charger. Today I mailed it back to him with another little surprise in the page. I am awesome!

What is this Journal of Awesomeness?

I like to read LifeHacker's articles. Every once in a while I find a gem from them. Today they posted an article entitled Keep a Journal of Awesomeness to Boost Your Self Esteem. In the article they talk about keeping track of good things in your life to help you remember how awesome you are when the daily grind gets you down. I thought it sounded like a good idea. So that is the purpose of this blog. It's public for now but might go private if the awesomeness gets to be too much for others to handle. ;)
